The 16th European Weed Research Society Symposium will be held at Ondokuz Mayis University in Samsun, Turkey on 24-27 June 2013. Ondokuz Mayis University, EWRS and the co-organisers will make every effort to provide an excellent environment for a stimulating and enjoyable scientific symposium. The program will provide valuable information and networking opportunities for participants with an interest in any basic and applied aspects related to weeds and weed management. It will include four days of sessions, with keynote papers, standard platform presentations and poster presentations. The following topics will be covered:

Weed biology
Plant morphology, anatomy, reproduction, seed ecology, soil seed bank, occurrence of invasive species

Weed ecology I
Species interactions: species interactions with environmental factors; CW interactions: competition, parasitic plants, allelopathy

Weed ecology II
Communities: weed dynamics under influence of farming, weed diversity, weed mapping, multitrophic interactions

Non-chemical weed management
Preventive, mechanical, physical, biological, and other non-chem WM methods

Optimization of chemical weed control
New products, application techniques, formulation and adjuvants

Causes and management of herbicide resistance
Detection methods, mechanisms and causes of resistance, new cases and distribution of resistant populations, prevention and management of resistance

Options and perspectives in weed management:
IWM, site specific weed management, DSS, new approaches in WM.
