IAS Europe app demonstration UF

 

The Alien CSI participants from IBER-BAS gave a lecture and demonstrated the smartphone application ‘Invasive Alien Species Europe’ to BSc students from the University of Forestry, the Faculty of Ecology and Landscape Architecture, Department of Ecology, Preservation and Restoration of Environment, and the Faculty of Forestry, on 10th December 2019, in Sofia.

 

The students were introduced to the smartphone applications for registration of biological organisms, their diversity and advantages. They were informed in particular about the aims and development of the ‘IAS Europe’ app, its contents and functionalities. Different projects and case studies with the usage of the app in Bulgaria and the Danube River basin (DRB) were presented. The list of IAS of EU and DRB concern, which can be found in Bulgaria was discussed. The app was tested by the students for registration of samples of aquatic IAS as mussels, crayfish and fish.
